Closet Organizing-learn Great Tips To Organize Your Closet Now

There are few areas in your home as difficult when organizing as your closet. You keep so many items in there such as shirts, pants, shoes, and miscellaneous things, it’s no wonder the closet is so hard to keep clean. Here are some tips to organizing your closet for maximum effectiveness starting today.

First of all, have a plan in place beforehand of how you want the closet to look when it’s done. Don’t merely begin the overhaul without having any idea in mind of the final product. Write down the plan and even a picture of the finished closet, and stay focused on your efforts to get there.

Now, start off the closet organizing process by discarding all your unused clothing immediately. There is nothing more wasteful than keeping around clothes you have no use for. Place these items in boxes and put them in the garage. Later, you can either simply throw them out or give them away to charity.

The most important thing needed for closet organizing is to keep your related items together. When your shirts, pants, shoes, and magazines are all clustered together, it’s next to impossible to know where anything is. In order to keep these separate, purchase organizers such as racks or even simple bins to keep your related clothing together and in one place.

Make use of the closet floor. Many closets come with a lot of floor space that most people underutilize, yet can be very effective when you need some extra space.

Remember, however, always leave some extra room for more items later on. If you fill up the whole closet too quickly, you won’t have any room for new items you may find or purchase later on.

When utilizing the floor, stack your clothes in neat piles where they will be out of your way when searching for other items. For instance, keep your shirts piled together, pants, etc. Don’t simply strew items all over the floor, which can do more harm than good.

Most people fall into the trap of believing that their closet is all about vertical space. They forget the horizontal space that, when utilized effectively, can take a tremendous amount of pressure off the rest of the closet.

Try to keep only your clothing in your closets, particularly the bedroom closet. For many people, it’s easy to stack miscellaneous items inside such as magazines, books, etc.

Keep your reading material in cabinets and other areas to make room for clothing in your closets. When you try to keep too many different items in your closet, you will quickly lose track of the things you’ve stored there.

Start with these simple yet effective tips at closet organizing, and go from there. You will quickly find that, when utilized effectively, your closet can take a tremendous amount of pressure off the rest of your home and its storage space. Don’t wait any longer-take action today!

Do You Have A Scrapbooking Room Hiding In Your Closet?

Did you ever think you would have accumulated so many scrapbooking supplies when you got into this hobby? You may still be moving your supply stash from room to room looking for a workspace to design your page layouts.

For many, having a scrapbooking craft room is a dream. Yet, if you look closely, you may just find a way to create a scrapbooking space that is all your own. You may not have a whole room to devote to your hobby, but a closet could be the answer to your craft room dream.

A unused closet can be an ideal place for your scrapbooking supplies, and with some organization it can be designed to include a workspace as well. Closets are perfect for storage because you can simply close the doors and hide away any mess or unfinished projects. However, to keep your scrap space ready for your next project, taking time to organize it is essential.

It doesn't really matter whether the closet is in a bedroom or not. Preferably it shouldn't be a hall closet, because it may make it difficult to sit a chair up to the workspace without blocking the hallway. A closet in a room that wouldn't interfere with the rest of the family is the best choice.

Decide whether the closet will be a permanent solution to your scrapbooking space or just a temporary one. If it will be permanent, you can invest in designing shelves and storage containers that suit the closet space. If you plan to eventually move your supplies to another space or moving is in your future, stack portable containers and bins with wheels. Modular shelves may be a better option if you plan to reuse the closet for another purpose later.

Depending on the size of the closet and the type of doors on it, you may be able to put a small desk directly into the it. A low dresser could be used for drawers as well, or perhaps an old filing cabinet. If that isn't an option, you could custom design a desk system that would include a shallow counter as a workspace.

Don't limit yourself to the lower half of the closet. The upper space can hold shelves full of supplies and paper. When storing paper, you have two options, vertical or horizontal storage. Vertical often makes it easier to see exactly what paper you have available at a glance, and tends to be easier to add and remove sheets. Sorting paper by color and patterned versus solid can save time when you are ready to start scrapbooking.

Embellishments come in all shapes and size, but most often they are quite small. Use small containers or a few large containers with compartments to store items like brads, eyelets, and paper clips. Ribbon rolls can hang on a small dowel or rod, and stickers usually do well sorted by theme in a plastic ziploc bags.

Tools should be stored at arm's length as much as possible. Keep your adhesive and cutting tools within reach. You don't want to be hunting for them once you are in the middle of a page layout. Other supplies like chalk, rubber stamps, ink, paint and embossing tools should be stored according to how often you use them. The more you use an item, the more accessible it should be.

Your closet can be organized into an efficient craft space. Use what you have or invest in a custom-designed organization system. Think about how you will use the space before you buy any special storage units. You may even want to paint the inside of the closet one of your favorite colors before you start putting in shelving and storage. A closet could be the answer to your dream of having a place to scrapbook that is all your own.

The Nasty Effects From Mold In Your Closet

There are many people in this world that have a mold problem and unfortunately they are still unaware that they have this problem. Then there are some people who know they have a mold issue but fail to understand that mold can cause them debilitating health issues in the future. Mold can be a benefit and also a problem to society which makes it a touchy situation. It is always better to go with the saying “better safe than sorry” when it comes to mold in the home.

Have you ever noticed when you walk into your closet in your home there is a certain smell that you just can’t place? No matter what you do to get rid of this smell it keeps coming back or it never leaves. This could mean that mold is growing rapidly in your closet and is attaching to everything inside of it. Mold can cling to pretty much any type of material especially clothes, shoes, and walls. Just the other day my next door neighbor had to leave her condominium because the neighbor that lives above her had a plumbing pipe leak and water leaked from the second floor right into her closet. That is not the only thing that was shocking about this.

She just now found out about this because she kept on having allergy attacks and she kept on getting sick. She also was fighting nasal infections and the doctors could not figure out why. This happened 3 months ago. The reason why she found out is because she was standing in her closet and saw that there was a black line of mold coming from the closet ceiling.

She followed the black mold line down to the carpet and saw that all of her shoes and clothes were filled with black mold and a hairy green substance. Right then and there she knew why she was having all of these health issues and she got out of the house until the mold inspection company came and took care of her problem.

This is one of those causes where you could not possible know that you had a black mold problem until the harmful effects really took over your body. If you keep getting sick, or your eyes start to water or get scratchy ever time you walk into a certain room in your house, you may have black mold growing there and you never knew it was even there.

Most of the time you can use natural cleaning products to get rid of the mold but make sure it doesn’t come back. By using these organic mold cleaners you will not have to worry about the fumes from the chemicals and plus they are all biodegradable. My advice is to try and stay away from any mold cleaner that has chlorine in it because the fumes are strong and will also hurt your skin if you are not careful. Once you do decide on the mold product you can rid your home of the mold and keep your family same from health issues in the future.

Sliding Closet Doors

Sliding closet doors are one of the most common types of closet door around today. The main advantage of having these types of doors is the convenience and accessibility to clothing and whatever else is behind them because the doors fold in and thus do not get in the way of what you are looking for inside. If you lead a busy life, consider this style of door to help save time.

Many people do not think about what is on the outside of their closet, they are only concerned about how much room they have on the inside. The door is one of the most important aspects though because it is what complements your entire bedroom. That is why sliding closet doors are such a good idea because you can find some very well designed doors.

If you have a long walk in closet then sliding closet doors would be an excellent addition. One concern people have with these style doors is that they are afraid the doors will come off the rails and they will not be able to re-attach them. If the doors are properly installed then you should not have a problem with them coming off the rails. Some poorly installed doors or some lesser quality doors will perhaps squeak quite often when sliding.

When researching the available sliding closet doors you would be better off getting as good a quality door as possible if your budget allows for it. Preferably, look for one that comes with silent rails and a damper system so that the doors do not slam into the door jams.

What type of sliding closet doors should you purchase? Some come with mirrors on both halves. This is a good choice if you happen to have a smaller room; mirrors give the impression of a larger room. Another advantage of this style is that you will be able to see yourself from head to toe, as this is important for many professionals who have to dress in business ware. Another choice of glass on the doors is frosted or smoked glass, which offer a different look.

Another option for your sliding closet doors is to choose a wood finish or a wood laminate finish. If you choose wood then your doors will be quite a bit heavier than the laminate choice. However, for sheer beauty then wood is the much better choice as most laminate does look a little cheaper.

Regardless of the style or type of doors you choose, you should do your research, both online and offline. Keep an eye out for any sales at your local home supply centers. This type of purchase may best be done at a brick and mortar store rather than on the internet as you will need to do some measuring and maybe even some adjustments will need to be made at the home improvement center or hardware store where you have made your purchase. Another option to consider is a second hand building supply center. You can find some very good deals on doors, windows and building materials that are in good condition.

Design Ideas For Bedroom Closet Organizers

How Closet Doors can influence how a room looks. Choosing the right doors, depending on the size of the room.

Just because you don't notice your closet doors, don't think that they don't have an impact on how the room looks. A darker door can stand out, a light door can blend in, and of course, mirrored doors have their own unique look and influence. Even after you have decided upon the your bedroom design ideas, make sure the doors are well crafted to open easily and widely enough to give you full access to the contents of the closet.

The first step in choosing your closet doors is deciding what you want your bedroom furniture to look like. You don't want to mix styles here, since modern looking bi fold doors of metal or Formica would never complement a bedroom set that is in the Italianate style. Beautifully carved doors, in the same tone as the wood of the furniture, would be the right choice here. The idea is that the closet doors should blend in with the decor of the furniture, not clash with it.

Besides the style, you have to concern yourself with the color of the closet doors you have chosen. You will most likely have chosen the colors of your bedroom before the furniture, or the closet doors, so make sure that the color choice goes with the color as well as style of the closet.

The space that the bedroom projects is another important consideration in choosing the closet doors. If you want to add the look of spaciousness to a room, choose mirrored doors, which can make a room look much larger. If you have closets that are small, and you want to be able to use each inch of space, bi-fold doors allow you fuller access to the interior of the closet. You can even get closet doors that slide open or closed with a remote control, if you like high tech interiors. For further space savings, these doors can slide into the walls and not even intrude into the room. For the truly high tech among you, how about speakers that automatically blast a great sound each time you open the doors automatically?

So if you are considering very specialized custom closet doors, the main issues to address are theme, color and space. After that, you can get fancy with extra touches, but the first and foremost thing to consider is that your closet doors work well for you and don't make things harder rather than easier.
